Children own their first mobile phone aged seven – and browse internet at five

Children now own their first mobile phone by age seven, according to research that shows how confident children are with new technology.
The survey of 1,500 parents by Opinium found that on average, UK children had a phone by age seven, an iPad by age eight, and a smart phone by age ten.
Most children can use a television aged just four years old – before they can tie their own shoelaces, swim without help or ride a bicycle without stabilizers.
They browse the internet as early as age five, on average seven years earlier than their parents.
